Vanilla Phantasies - Revisited Ability Scores I STR

Hi Folks,

today we will take a short look at STR, the ability score, which made Fighting-Men level way faster (if it was higher than average) or slower (obviously, if it was l.t.a.) back in ODD and still does as in OSE. In his Fistful of Crystals Document, Gus L. sets the following parameter for characters with high or low STR-scores:

STRength - if 5 or under subtract 1 from your melee to hit roll and damage.  If 15 or over add one to the same.

At this point, I'm considering to cross out every plain +/- conditions ability scores might come with that are way to bland and way to effective, if one is aiming for overspecialized superheros engaging in tactical battles and replace them with something, thats more gamable, just as Gus L. once got rid of +1 Swords. So instead (or maybe in addition, time will show) the mentioned STR-Score will be about a Fighter's Favourite and the modification of the Save vs. Petrification (P):

Save vs. Petrification - selfexplaining

If 5 or lower, add 1 to (P).

If 15 or higher, substract 1 from (P).

Fighter's Favourite - little feat trees, I will expand over time. Fighters automatically start with one, every character with high STR might start with an additional one. Futher feats can be acquired through down time. Most categories also are derived from the above mentioned F.o.C.

Pulling the Trigger

Welcome to Beans of Blue.

I'm going to launch a blog, not because i have much to say about ye olden days, but because i need a very personal starter's gun to get my game running. With a more or less public notebook, i hope to force myself to finally begin something similar to a westmarches style open table. Things that will likely follow (or should i say hopefully?) will be session reports of  Tombrobbers of the Crystal Frontier, which might result in a review too. Also, a series called vanilla phantasies, in which I will argue the mechanics of my games, 101% brewed out of other's ideas, nothing genial and there for a very fitting title. That's it for today, hope your future self is able to enjoy my scribblings.
